Fenerbahçe's pursuit for Bursaspor goalscorer Sercan Yıldırım seems to have come to an end. The 19-year-old striker put pen to paper this week, as he extended his contract with the Green Crocs for a further year. Bursaspor has now secured Sercan Yıldırım's rights until the end of May 2012. Despite offers from top Premiership clubs, Bursaspor manager Ertuğrul Sağlam was known to be against his departure.

Vargas Denies Fenerbahçe Move

Fiorentina star Juan Manuel Vargas has denied knowledge of an offer from Fenerbahçe, according to Italian media reports today.  The defender told reporters that he has no plans to leave, but his Italian club are making plans that may force Vargas out anyway.

According to the latest reports circulating in the football media, Argentine giants River Plate are considering to transfer Fenerbahçe's Uruguayan defender Diego Lugano. Uruguay's legendary footballer Enzo Francescoli, also a former River Plate attacking midfielder, has reportedly recommended the Argentine club transfer Diego Lugano. Reports also link the Fenerbahçe defender with a transfer to Italian side AS Roma.

The Yellow Canaries continue their pre-season preparations in joyful fashion. Fenerbahçe defensive midfielder Deniz Barış was given a miniature championship trophy as he celebrated his 32nd birthday at the start of Thursday morning's training session. Fenerbahçe's Brazilian left back Roberto Carlos reported back at Samandıra on Wednesday, as the Yellow Canaries continued their pre-season preparations. The squad greeted Roberto Carlos with a cheerful "Welcome Back" at the start of this morning's training session. The Yellow Canaries were to conduct two more training sessions on Wednesday.

Turkey's Milli Takım dropped down sixteen spots to an embarrassing 28th place in the newest edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking published on Wednesday. Meanwhile, 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup champions Brazil knocked down Spain from the top spot which they had been holding for a straight year.

Newcastle United's relegation woes could be Fenerbahçe's gain.  Reports out of England this week say the club is interested in Newcastle United star Steven Taylor.  The English club are looking to cash in after being relegated after last season, and the defender could be on his way out.
