The Yellow Canaries lost their second pre-season friendly at the ETL-DOM Cup, as they were defeated 5-2 at the hands of 1. FC Köln at the Sud Stadium in Cologne, Germany on Saturday afternoon. Defensive mistakes and poor goalkeeping saw Fenerbahçe drop out to the home side. New transfer Miroslav Stoch scored his first goal for the Canaries, while Deivid de Souza also got on the scoresheet.

Fenerbahçe put in two practice sessions Friday, as the team gets ready to play its second friendly match of the preseason.  The Yellow Canaries face German side FC Köln Saturday afternoon, but coach Aykut Kocaman had the team working hard Friday on the fifth day of their Belgian training camp.

Fenerbahçe manager Aykut Kocaman and midfielder Emre Belözoğlu commented on the Yellow Canaries' draw against Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. Aykut Kocaman stated that while on paper it looked to be an easy draw, football is played on the pitch. Young Boys coach Vladimir Petković, in the meantime, admitted Fenerbahçe was a strong team that he feared.

The Yellow Canaries have been drawn with Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. The first leg match will be played in Bern, Switzerland on 27th/28th July, while Fenerbahçe will host Young Boys at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium for the return leg match on 3rd/4th August.

Fenerbahçe Get Back to Work With Double Session Thursday

After their first preseason friendly yesterday, Fenerbahçe returned to work Thursday with two practice sessions.  The team will play their second match of the summer Saturday against German squad FC Köln.  Coach Aykut Kocaman is working on getting the team ready, but a number of players are still dealing with injuries heading into the weekend.

Mehmet Topuz could miss the remainder of the team's Belgian camp, according to reports Thursday.  The midfielder has been battling injuries during the summer, but reports indicate that Topuz's thigh injury has not healed as expected, and the Fenerbahçe footballer will continuing receiving treatment while missing playing time. 

Semih Şentürk Denies Reports of Fenerbahçe Departure

Semih Şentürk spoke with the press late this week, stating that contrary to on-going reports, he has no plans to leave Fenerbahçe.  The striker was mentioned in rumours going back to last season, but Semih is currently at the Canaries' camp.  He told reporters that he's excited about the upcoming season with new coach Aykut Kocaman.

Turkcell Süper Lig runners-up Fenerbahçe have two pre-eliminary rounds before they can advance through to the UEFA Champions League group stage. The Yellow Canaries will be learning their first opponent in Friday's UEFA Champions League third qualifying round draw at Nyon, Switzerland. First leg matches will be played on July 27th/28th, while the second leg games are scheduled on August 3rd/4th.
