Turkish rivals Beşiktaş will replace Fenerbahçe in the Peace Cup, organizers announced this week.  Fener had to withdraw from the competition due to Europa League competition, which will occur at the same time.  Beşiktaş, Turkish league champs, will compete in the UEFA Champions League but will not be competing until later in the fall.

The addition of Beşiktaş adds to the prestige of the competition.  The Black Eagles just completed the rare feat of winning both the Fortis Turkish Cup and the Turkcell Süper Lig.  The Eagles will play in Group D of the competition against France's Olympique Lyonnais, Sevilla, and FC Porto.

The competition will take place next month in Madrid and Andalucia.  Al-Ittihad (Saudi Arabia), Aston Villa (England), Celtic (Scotland), Juventus (Italy), LDU Quito (Ecuador), Malaga (Spain), Real Madrid (Spain), Seongnam FC (Korea) and Sevilla CF (Spain) will join Beşiktaş in the competition.
