According to the latest reports circulating in the football media, Argentine giants River Plate are considering to transfer Fenerbahçe's Uruguayan defender Diego Lugano. Uruguay's legendary footballer Enzo Francescoli, also a former River Plate attacking midfielder, has reportedly recommended the Argentine club transfer Diego Lugano. Reports also link the Fenerbahçe defender with a transfer to Italian side AS Roma.

Goal.com reported on Thursday that Argentine giants River Plate were considering to make a move on Fenerbahçe's Uruguayan defender Diego Lugano. According to the report, River Plate have targeted the 28-year-old central defender who's currently a free agent.

Former River Plate attacking midfielder Enzo Francescoli, a legendary player in Lugano's native country Uruguay, has reportedly contacted the Fenerbahçe defender's agent. Francescoli is said to have recommended River Plate transfer Diego Lugano.

In the meantime, reports last week had linked the Uruguayan defender with a move to Serie A side AS Roma. Lugano had reportedly confirmed Roma's offer and stated, "Serie A is the league competition of my dreams. My contract with Fenerbahçe is over and I'm considering my options." Diego Lugano was also previously linked with Italian giants AC Milan and Lazio.
