Fenerbahçe Deal For Onyewu Appears To Be Dead
Rumour • Author: Nathan Redd • Friday, July 3, 2009
It appears that Fenerbahçe are out of the race to sign American defender Oguchi Onyewu. The Canaries were believed to be the leaders for his services earlier this week, but Oguchi's agent spoke to reporters this weekend and said their deal is now off the table.
Oguchi Onyewu has seen his stock soar in the last week. The Standard Liege player was offered a new deal by his Belgian club, but Onyewu now has offers from across Europe. It appeared earlier this week that Fenerbahçe were the leaders to sign Onyewu, but the Canaries are now apparently out of the race.
Lyle Yorks, the agent for Onyewu, said the Fenerbahçe offer, as well as all English and French offers, are now off the table. "We are in serious discussions with one Spanish team, two Serie A (Italian) teams, and Ajax Amsterdam," he told Soccer365 this weekend.
Reports indicate that Espanyol and Valencia are the Spanish leaders, while Genoa, Parma, Palermo, Bologna, Livorno, and Catania have all been linked with an Italian move for the defender. Ajax entered the race late this week for Onyewu.

Ajax??!
!!!
bloody hell..
Onyewu is good but lugano is way better! Give lugano his 4 mil!
Were are the new super stars? We are still waiting AZIZ!
this is what we get for taking like 9 years just to sign a player
look at real. they signed benzema in a few days.
carlos3-DONT U EVER SAY THAT AGAIN!
*and turkish players are TALENTED-A LOT!Franco and Keita will play 3 years tops for Gs with no much of a giving-just a job, getting money, cash hunters u know aka partners with benefits! But i m sure that Ozer will put his heart on Sukru Saracoglu...!SO THINK,THINK before dropping the bull in here!
Looking at the list of other clubs interested in Onyewu, i would say only Valencia and Genoa can compete with an offer made by Fenerbahce. Maaaaaybe Ajax....
Besiktas are in champions league and attract players easily. This season will not go right for us in the transfer season because of Aragones and because we're only in the Europa league.
and its not aziz fault that lugano is leaving..Lugano wants to leave.
You should be thanking Aziz that we had a player of the caliber of Lugano for 3 years.
Cause experience is what Gencler had when they made it to the fourth round (round of 16) only to lose to Valencia on SILVER GOAL.
Cause experience is what Shaktar, Zenit and Feyenoord had when they won the UEFA cup.
Get the experience bull out of here. As long as your hungry, got the right attitude and have a coach that isn't crap you can win.
Zico, Daum, Lucescu, Riijkard are few examples.

remeber his name in 7 5 years time hes playing for either r madrid or chlelsea or any star team
its like a curse i swear..
Clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Inter Milan struggle to achieve Global Status. Even Manchester and Real Madrid who are globabally known, people struggle to name a player from the teams.
Anyway management is not the problem..Aziz Yildirim has made all the right choices so far. Hes made Fenerbahce into one of the richest clubs in the world. A beautiful stadium. World Class players.
Really statistics would show Fenerbahce is underachieving. What really is the problem is the quality of Turkish football. Until the lower teams start shaping up Fenerbahce won't have to improve drastically..
Last season was a shocking season right? One of the worst seasons in Fenerbahce history..but still finished 4th. Don't you see something wrong with that??
Kayserispor/Ankaraspor/Gaziantepsor all achieved safety and then it seemed they put the brakes on. Didn't even challenege the relegation fighting teams anymore.
Bursaspor, Sivasspor and maybe Trabzonspor are what Turkish football needs. These are the teams that stand up to the big teams. They say no, we want your place, we want in Europe, we want the league title.
If nobody challenges the big teams why should the big teams improve?
