Former Canary Jay-Jay Okocha Planning Football Return

Former Fenerbahçe star Jay-Jay Okocha is planning a return to football, nearly two years after announcing his retirement. The Nigerian star made a name for himself with Fener from 1996-1998, and now he appears close to signing a deal with Gateway of Abeokuta of the Nigerian Premier League.
Jay-Jay Okocha spent two seasons with Fenerbahçe in the late 1990's and quickly became a fan favorite. Coming over from Eintracht Frankfurt, The attacking midfielder scored 30 goals in two seasons. He became a direct freekick specialist with the Yellow Canaries, and also obtained Turkish citizenship while with Fenerbahçe.
Now at age 36, Okocha is coming out of retirement to play football once again. In addition to a club deal, Complete Sports of Nigeria reports that Okocha could possibly join the Nigerian National Team if he's able to re-gain his fitness. The African media outlet also reports that negotiations with Gateway of Abeokuta are already underway.
Okocha also played for Bolton Wanderers, Paris St. Germain, Qatar SC, and Borussia Neunkirchen. He retired from football in 2008 while with English club Hull City. He was also a member of the Nigerian National Team from 1993-2006.
