Beşiktaş Open Week 15 Eyeing First Place in Süper Lig

Beşiktaş open the Turkcell Süper Lig Friday, eyeing a chance to move into first place.  The Black Eagles host Diyarbakırspor in the opening match of the weekend Friday night, as they sit just a point behind Fenerbahçe in the standings.  Elsewhere, a matchup of top-five teams takes place Sunday night in Kayseri.  Here is a look around the league this weekend:

Beşiktaş open week 15 of the Turkcell Süper Lig as they host Diyarbakırspor in Istanbul Friday night.  The Black Eagles are riding high, with a streak of eight consecutive league victories and a rebirth in European play recently.  A win Friday would move them into first place, at least for a day.  They trail Fenerbahçe by just a point in the table.

Two games are on the schedule Saturday, with Kasımpaşa hosting Sivasspor and Fenerbahçe traveling to take on Eskişehirspor.  For Sivasspor, it's a chance to move closer to safety.  The league runners-up from last season are currently facing the threat of relegation as the season break approaches.  They are still four points from safety, with only ten points through 14 games this season.

Five games are on the schedule Sunday, with a huge matchup of top-five teams in Kayseri.  The Bursaspor Green Crocs are on the road to take on Kayserispor Sunday at 13:30 local time.  Bursa currently hold the third place spot in the table, but Kayserispor are just a point behind them in fifth.  Both teams have a great chance to potentially move to the top of the table with a win and some help.  Despite their success, Kayseri aren't unstoppable at home.  In seven matches at home this season, they've won four but also allowed three draws.  The Green Crocs come to town with optimism and the hope of moving closer to their first-ever championship.
