Daum: "We Deserved At Least One Point Tonight"

News  •  Author: Mehmet Pozam   •   Sunday, December 6, 2009 Picture

Yellow Canaries manager Christoph Daum spoke to reporters after his team's 2-1 loss at the hands of Eskişehirspor on Saturday night. The German coach admitted that Fenerbahçe's flanks had performed very weak on the night, but also pointed at the referee's wrong calls. "We need to support this squad even more and help them grow stronger," commented Daum.

German coach Christoph Daum spoke to the press after Fenerbahçe's 2-1 defeat at the Eskişehir Atatürk Stadium on Saturday night. Daum began his words by congratulating Eskişehirspor and their coach Rıza Çalımbay. He then commented that Fenerbahçe had deserved to get at least one point with their performance on Saturday night.

"We especially needed to attack and create more chances from the flanks," commented Daum. "We are aware that we are in a fall, these last few weeks. We need to find a break and rise up again in the coming games," he continued. "We need to work hard and win our next games," stated the Fener manager.

Daum also spoke about referee errors, in his post-match press conference. "Unfortunately, a lot of the calls were given against us," said Christoph Daum. "There was a foul on Bilica, before Eskişehirspor's goal and the referee missed it," he explained.

Christoph Daum then mentioned that he went for a triple substitution, in order to turn the match around. "When we conceded the goal, we had to add the pressure and look for goals, so instead of making two substitutions, we made three," he explained.

Afterwards, Daum revealed that he won't be making any radical changes in the squad. "We played a lot of good games and won a lot of victories together," said Christoph Daum. "We need to support this squad even more and help them grow stronger," he continued.

Meanwhile, straight after the final whistle, Lig TV reporter Tunç Elibol had asked Daum whether there would be any changes in the squad during the league break, whether there would be any transfers in the upcoming transfer window. "At this point, it's irrational to think about the league break. We have to concentrate on our last two games," answered Daum.

"We have a 'no supporters' match against Ankaragücü and then we have an away game at Trabzon. We will fight to get as much as we can from the maximum six points. It's not reasonable to be thinking about other things at this stage," explained the German coach.

Sorry but thats bulls**t. We definitely didn't deserve even one point. We were crap.

Daum will stay, Daum will win us the championship. Quote me on this.

You know for all the slack you give Daum, he thinks a lot like you. His plan as Fenerbahce coach during the Tuncay era was to get rid of all the foreigners except Alex. He wanted to buy Nihat, Hamit etc.. and make a strong Turkish squad.
vivalavida • 02:57 • December 6, 2009
no he never.
efe10 • 03:25 • December 6, 2009
to Kozak: then why does he never play ozer.
polat10 • 03:27 • December 6, 2009
because daum does not care about turkish talent at all.

especially young turkish talent like ozer.
vivalavida • 03:28 • December 6, 2009
i can answer that - because daum doesn't care about turkish talent. he'll always play a 3rd rated foreigner (wederson) over any turkish talent we have then he'll wear a t shirt with the ay yildiz and declare his love for turkey and all the fans will suck it up.
Kozak • 03:38 • December 6, 2009
So who else do we have for left back? We have 3 possible players for Left back and guess what! They're all Brazilian. Who do you want him to play there?

Also, you want to know why he doesn't play Ozer? Its because we have much more experienced and better players. Believe it or not but Alex is better than Ozer, Topuz is better than Ozer, Cristian is better than Ozer, Dos Santos is better than Ozer, Emre is better than Ozer.

I don't know what kind of team you guys would run but in my team the best players would get starting 11 positions and the second best would be on the bench.
polat10 • 03:41 • December 6, 2009
well kozak, if you look at it ozer is pretty much alex just plays at a faster rate. and even though ozer is a winger he is still capable of doing so much for this team. just daum will never give him a chance. even if ozer was daums last option he still would not play him.

ozer is probably giving it his all at the practices and daum isnt even paying attention to him.....he probably wants to play more then anyone else. if it was me i would give it my all just to play for fenerbahce, money wont mean anything to me. as long as i play then i am happy.
vivalavida • 03:47 • December 6, 2009
why are you comparing Ozer to the likes of Alex, Cristian and Emre? these 3 are all central midfielders, ozer on the other hand is a winger.

then you say topuz is better than ozer but i'm going to disagree, the games hes played in hes virtually been invisible (take this game for example). the time when ozer came on against kasimpasa, yes he lost the ball a few times (so did everyone else) but he created a handful of chances as well.

dos santos is a good player but he's been out of form now for a while, his first touch has totally been off and if any half decent manager sees this then they'll drop that player to the bench or sub him off in a game.
vivalavida • 03:49 • December 6, 2009
and then you talk about experience, how can young players gain experience if they don't play at all?
polat10 • 03:50 • December 6, 2009
even though ozer is a winger he can pretty much play anywhere in the midfield also. i only saw him making the plays last week against kasimpasa.
vivalavida • 03:53 • December 6, 2009
i would of started abdulkadir today rather than selcuk, i've never hated a player more than selcuk, extending his contract just shows what is wrong with fenerbahce.

then again all the top 3 have a below average player (Sabri, Ibrahim Uzulmez)
Temirov123 • 03:56 • December 6, 2009
Come guys break it up!!! Fenerbahce need prayers right now! they need support. Why do u guys care who plays. You can say let Ozer in all day my friend. No one will hear you until ur the coach. So let's stop fighting and pray and hope that we will win again!!

daum i am with you until the end!!! You are a great coach. You only made us loose 4 or 5 games this season. That is really good!!
Kozak • 03:56 • December 6, 2009
Ozer isn't just a winger. He is a versatile midfielder. Start Abdulkadir? Do you want us to lose?

I can compare Ozer to the likes of Alex, Cristian and Emre because thats the players he is fighting for a spot on the starting 11 and believe me, if I was a coach he would not gain a spot above such players.
vivalavida • 04:35 • December 6, 2009
obviously Alex is a class above Ozer but comparing Ozer to Cristian and Emre is stupid because the latter two play a more defensive role.

you can easily put ozer on the right wing or the left wing over such players like topuz, wederson, kazim richards, ugur boral and the out-of-form santos.
nathan • 04:56 • December 6, 2009
seriously, what part of "not cursing" do some of you not understand?? I don't have time to babysit some of you. I've already banned one person today and I'll be happy to do it again.

STOP CURSING ON THE WEBSITE!!!
polat10 • 05:01 • December 6, 2009
lmfao nathan =D i feel the stress on you buddy.
nathan • 05:24 • December 6, 2009
it's been a long day...
Aydan • 06:14 • December 6, 2009
yeah Nathan I know the feeling it's been a long day for me too and what we have to look forward to next weekend an empty stadium. I'm so disappointed in our performance the last three lig games I hope we can turn our season around.
Why do you guys think that Daum waits so late to make substitutions in the game? To me it seems like he waits too long to make them and then there isn't enough time for them to really make a difference. I agree I think Ozer should start and get more playing time I would hate to lose him to another team. I am completely fed up with Guia because of that little temper tantrum when he got taken out of the game last weekend and yet another dismal performance today.
falkon • 06:43 • December 6, 2009
Yeah! You tell 'em Nathan.

Nathan for President
efe10 • 08:24 • December 6, 2009
i would have started ozer on the left today and put santos on left back. if he does bad. simple. just take him out. but if ozer gets one chance to play full he will prove himself and he will get playing time after that. I applaud GS for that. they dont waste young talent like us.
Rapaz_Brasileiro • 14:29 • December 6, 2009
Man i'm sick of those words! 'We deserved at least one point' what ever! We (the fans) deserve too see nice football! With the players we have everyone should be able to let them play good but no Daum isn't!

Just the same like Aragones, yeah we deserved this, yeah we will play great football within 2 years, yeah we need too learn from this, yeah we have to find a break and rise up again. What about taking your bags, move your ass to Colombia or something to do your biggest hobby with the money you did get for doing nothing and just saying stupid things to keep the fans calm?!

Yeah sure you won't change the squad, Do you want to take Fenerbahçe down or something you're nothing less then a parasite! 'we played good matches with this squad' lol! we only played one good match and the others we where just lucky!

Once again: Just leave Daum! We will be better without you!!!

damnn this man makes me angry!!!
Temirov123 • 16:59 • December 6, 2009
Rapaz_Brasileiro.... daum is a good coach. I don't with what kind of a language to tell you my friend
fener1907 • 18:36 • December 6, 2009
Lets play Deivid next match as a striker, i think we should give this formation a try

Volkan

Gonul Lugano Bilica Santos

Emre Cristian

Ozer Topuz

Semih Deivid

Then 60 min Deivid off and Guiza on
70 min semih off and Alex on
80min Bekir off and Bilica on
Rapaz_Brasileiro • 19:00 • December 6, 2009
Daum a good coach. ajajajajajajajajajajajaja!!!!!!!! man Temirov you must think about a career as a stand up comedian!

Daum is the most luckiest coach, can only win with luck not with nice football! And what is football if you can't make fun in it? :)
Axessinho • 19:26 • December 7, 2009
Funny how you all are saying istifa now :)
Daum doesnt play young players because why play young Turks and risk losing a game when you can just play Carlos or some mediocar foreigner. Daum is set on winning the league, We will win the league but is that something to be proud of? We have won the league 17 times and havnt won a turkish cup in 28 years... Not to even mention European campaigns.
