Fenerbahçe's next opponent in the UEFA Europa League, LOSC Lille Métropole, entered the winter break in style on Wednesday night as they thrashed Nancy with four goals to nothing. LOSC continued their amazing run in the French Ligue 1 and climbed up to second position in the league standings. Lille striker Gervinho who scored two of the four goals on Wednesday's Nancy victory, became the Ligue 1 top scorer.

Lille continued to impress French football fans, when they took on Nancy at the Stade Marcel Picot on Wednesday night. The Mastiffs were the visitors on the night and it took them a while to open the goalscoring. Eleven minutes into the game, a Ludovic Obraniak freekick found Lille defender Adil Rami in the danger zone who managed to header the ball into the net, but the match official disallowed the goal for a foul on a Nancy defender.

18-year-old Eden Hazard broke the deadlock in the 42 minute, when he received a Gervinho pass, turned around on the penalty spot and perfectly struck the ball inside the Nancy goal: 1-0. The young Belgian midfielder, not to be underestimated because of his age and definitely someone who deserves to be taken seriously. Half-time score: 1-0.

Six minutes into the second-half, Lille's Ivorian striker Gervinho (pictured above)capitalized on a rebound from the Nancy keeper and he powerfully struck the ball over the shot stopper: 2-0. Gervinho continued to cause serious trouble for Nancy as he found a perfect one-on-one with the Nancy keeper in the 60th minute, but only to be shoved on the ground. Nancy defender Sami would be sent off for his challenge, leaving the home side with ten men. French striker Pierre Alain Frau scored Lille's third from the spot kick: 3-0.

This time it would be Eden Hazard who gave Gervinho the assist for Lille's fourth goal of the night. 22-year-old Gervinho scoring his eighth goal in six games. The Ivory Coast striker now the French Ligue 1 top scorer with a total of eleven goals.

With this result, LOSC Lille Métropole enter the winter break in second position, nine points seperating them with current leaders Girondins de Bordeaux. Lille now have a break until January 9th, when they take on Colmar in the French Cup.

Well we're just going to have to put their happiness to an end.
fb_fan • 13:47 • December 25, 2009
Yes and that will happen only if we take care of the lack of ambition we demonstrate somethimes!
fenerbahce4life • 14:34 • December 25, 2009
yh twente was apparently unstoppable aswell. Our team has much more quality then lille. If you ask me french league aint even that good.
Lionel_Hurmaci • 14:57 • December 25, 2009
arda turan: "I most want to play at Liverpool because of the culture of the club and the fans - and the fact that they have red shirts attracts me."....haha the last bit
macho-morten • 15:13 • December 25, 2009
Hazard is such a great name for an attacking player... A defensive too, for that matter.

Anyway, I would advice against taking this team lightly. As for the French league, don't forget that Bordeaux and Lyon have eliminated Juventus and Liverpool from the Champions League. French teams are strong.
falkon • 16:08 • December 25, 2009
That sounds weird coming from Arda Turan, I thought he was a loyal Galatasaray player and fan.
Onur • 16:15 • December 25, 2009
man i have a baaaaad feeling about this. this isnt gna be a walk in the park thats for sure
vivalavida • 16:33 • December 25, 2009
Of course we're going to be over-confident, thats our downfall taking these teams lightly.
Fener_eniste • 17:28 • December 25, 2009
Confidence is one thing, over confidence (cockiness)is another.

That's an excellent squad, but I'm sure we can fit in at least another 2 teams who would be as good, don't you think?
perlomental • 18:11 • December 25, 2009

fb_fan • 20:08 • December 25, 2009

WirSINDFenerbahce • 21:12 • December 25, 2009
Mertesacker or Hageland please!
perlomental • 21:25 • December 25, 2009
mertesacker is great but keep him till summer cz he already played in europe so he will be useless, brede hageland too...
Fenerium11 • 21:30 • December 25, 2009
Those 2 would be great, but it won't be easy to get them, Turkey really needs to develop more youngsters..
WirSINDFenerbahce • 21:32 • December 25, 2009
Ya your right, but these two would definently be transfer targets
WirSINDFenerbahce • 21:41 • December 25, 2009
Once we get a couple big names and tinker just a little with the the Squad, this team will be the rising Star in the East!
fb_fan • 21:44 • December 25, 2009
I believe that Breno from Bayern Munchen is a good option!Oguchi is an option too,but i honestly think that if it comes down to a transfer,it will be someone from our League!
Fenerium11 • 21:45 • December 25, 2009
It will, we need to drop the Brazilian scouting, yes, we had some success with them, but I think it's time to move more towards Africa and Europe now, stronger and more physical players could really help us in some situations.
WirSINDFenerbahce • 21:52 • December 25, 2009
I agree Fenerium, I would like to see more European/Africans tranfered than Brazilians(Even though I love Alex)They should look at players for example from Ghana's U-20 winning side. Milan already signed that Cat whos name is Dominic something(I forget the last name)
Fenerium11 • 22:00 • December 25, 2009
Dominic Adiyiah? half of the Ghana U-20 squad have already signed with big European clubs, I find we're way to slow to make our moves on players, we hesitate way too much. The board knows what players we're missing, they should get to work right away, at least give hints so some rumors end up being real..It's become really frustrating reading these rumors.. over 15 names have been listed and we have yet to see one wear the Fenerbahce shirt..
polat10 • 23:07 • December 25, 2009
To all FBWW members who have xbox live, i made a club called Sari Kanaryalar for FIFA 10. We will all be on teams and playing against others with Fenerbahce, to join my club go to the main menu, go to xbox live, and then go on pro club championship and search Sari.

macho-morten • 18:41 • December 26, 2009
I read that Jovanovic is a good friend of Milan Rapajc, and that Milan had adviced him to go for Fener :)

But why would we want Emre Güngör?
