Andre Santos is enjoying his first season as a Yellow Canary. After coming over from his native Brazil, he's experienced playing European football, and now his team is dominating the Turkish football landscape as well. Santos spoke with reporters following Thursday's victory over Bursaspor and talked about his World Cup hopes and more.
Andre Santos spoke with reporters Thursday night following his team's convincing 3-0 victory over Bursaspor in the Ziraat Türkiye Cup. The Brazilian star talked about playing for Fener, and also clarified his name, telling reporters that it's actually Andre Santos, rather than Andre dos Santos.
Santos told reporters that the team can thank the fans for their support in the victory. "This victory is a gift to our fans," he said. "From the moment we took the pitch to warm-up until the end, our fans never left us and always supported us. We worked hard for this victory tonight."
He also spoke about the possibility of playing for Brazil in the upcoming 2010 World Cup, telling reporters that his focus now is on Fenerbahçe and the team's success. "Our success here is what matters to me right now. The decision of who will play for the Brazilian National Team is not up to me, but to the staff there. They watch me; I do my best and hopefully I will deserve it. My goal is just to work hard here and succeed, then go to the national team. I'm just going to do my best and work hard, but if I can't go, it's not the end of the world," Santos said.
