Fenerbahçe hope to end a seven-game slide of winless results Sunday when they play host to Antalyaspor in Turkcell Süper Lig action.  The Canaries are in the midst of a late season slump, but they are just five points out of first place in the table.  A win at home could go a long way in getting Fener back to the top of the table.  Kickoff from Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium is set for 19:00 local time (12 Noon EST in the U.S.; 5 PM in the U.K.). 

Fenerbahçe play host to Antalyaspor Sunday night needing a victory in the worst way.  The Canaries are currently suffering through a streak of seven matches without a victory, with their last win coming more than a month ago.  On February 4th, Fener defeated Bursaspor 3-0 before entering into a month of subpar performances and disappointing results. 

Over the last month, Fenerbahçe have lost their hold on first place in the table and have been eliminated from UEFA Europa League competition.  Still, the squad isn't losing their faith.  Team administrators attended the squad's practice earlier this weekend and reiterated their faith in the team's ability to return to form and win the title.  Additionally, Coach Christoph Daum told reporters last weekend that his team will be facing a difficult time if they hope to get back in the title hunt, but the German boss was more optimistic this weekend.  He implored his players on Friday to unify as a team and get a good result against Antalyaspor.

Antalyaspor enter Sunday's contest sitting in 11th place in the table, but still not 100% clear of possible relegation danger.  They are seven points ahead of the last relegation spot with eleven matches remaining.  Mehmet Özdilek's squad have nine draws this season in 23 contests, including two consecutive draws in league play.  Antalya earned a point last weekend in a 1-1 draw with Trabzonspor at home.   

If Fener are to get back to their winning ways, they'll have to do it Sunday without their team captain, Alex de Souza.  The midfielder picked up a red card last weekend against IBBSpor, then was handed a two-match suspension earlier this week.  The good news is that several footballers are expected to return to action this weekend.  Diego Lugano, Ali Bilgin, and Mehmet Topuz are all nearing 100%, while Gökhan Gönül and Özer Hurmacı are likely out Sunday as they recover from their injuries.  Fener have been depleted by injuries recently, so the return of Topuz and Lugano is fantastic news for Daum and his staff.

Fenerbahçe and Antalyaspor last met just a month and a half ago in Turkish Cup play.  Antalyaspor won that meeting 4-3 after Fener came back from a 3-1 deficit to tie it up with just ten minutes left.  Serge Djiehoua scored the game winner, his second goal of the match, in the 88th minute to lift Antalya to victory on January 18th.  Despite that loss, Fener have owned the series recently, winning 14 of their previous 20 meetings and losing just three times.  Fenerbahçe are also 8-1 against Antalyaspor at home over their last nine meetings. 

The Canaries need a victory badly on Sunday, but Antalyaspor are not expected to give in easily.  Still, the squad is only five points out of first place with plenty of time to make up points.  They'll need to pick up points at every opportunity, however, including Sunday at home against Antalyaspor.
