Turkcell Süper Lig Set For Two Rare Midweek Fixtures

Turkcell Super Lig  •  Author: Nathan Redd   •   Wednesday, March 10, 2010 Picture

The calendar says Wednesday, but two matches are on the schedule in the Turkcell Süper Lig this midweek.  Thanks to mother nature and a heavy snowfall earlier this winter, two previously postponed matches have been rescheduled for Wednesday.  Here's a look at the two matchups:

A heavy snowfall in week 18 postponed two matches in the Turkcell Süper Lig, but both have been rescheduled for Wednesday night.  First up, Kasımpaşa hosts Bursaspor in a 16:00 afternoon contest.  Bursa has had a tough time recently, having their match last weekend called off due to fan violence.  As a result, they also lost their hold on second place in the table, slipping to third.  They'll travel to take on Kasımpaşa in hopes of continuing their recent dominance.  The Green Crocs have won their last five meetings over Kasımpaşa.  Bursa were on a roll prior to last weekend's postponed match, having not lost a match since a February 4th decision to Fenerbahçe.

Also on Wednesday, Beşiktaş host IBBSpor in a mini derby.  The Black Eagles had last weekend off because of a scheduled fixture against Ankaraspor, who were relegated.  The Eagles are in fourth place in the table, but they can tie Fenerbahçe on points with a win Wednesday.  IBBSpor defeated the Canaries just ten days ago, and they haven't lost in exactly one month - a streak of four consecutive matches with at least a point.  The Black Eagles need maximum points to keep their spot in a crowded field of championship contenders.

Wednesday, March 10:

Kasımpaşa vs. Bursaspor - 16:00

Beşiktaş vs. IBBSpor - 20:00

Wow BJK has giving up the least number of goals in TSL,
Bursa is winning and if BJK wins it will make the table very interesting.
Question, if you were a neutral player and were asked to choose between Daum and Rickaard who would you play for??
Temirov123 • 20:43 • March 10, 2010
DAUM ^!

Rickaaard just works for the money. He wont waste time making a big accomplishment in gala because he did it at barca>>>>

No way man, what are you thinking? First off, with Gala currently in first place I would not say that Rijkard is only in it for the money! Second he's already made a big change at Gala from changing them into a 4-3-3 formation. That takes a lot of hard work to make work properly, so he's not simply sipping margaritas on the sidelines while people play/practice. Lastly, why do you think coaches like Rijkard would simply stop striving for things after winning with Barca in the past? He was one of the most competitive players in his time, and he seems to have that same competitiveness about him as a coach...

Hate to say it guys, but Rijkard is more than 10 times better than Daum!

As far as i know Gala is paying 3 million euro's for a proven world class coach in Rijkaard. Meanwhile Fener is paying 3.5 millions euro's a year for Daum.

Some of you guys really need to take the blinders off. Fener has made some really big blunders these last 2 seasons. And i feel the success they had with Zico was chance, rather then any of the board actually thinking that Zico would turn Fener into a world class team, which he eventually did.

Instead of doing their best to accomendate Zico they caused the circumstances that led to his departure.

Gala is generally playing good football. Fener is playing really bad football.

Right now if i had the choice to have Rijkaard instead of Daum as manager, i would without hesitation. We might actually get to see Fener play good football this season.

I would play under Ertugrul Salam!
remedy2000 • 09:49 • March 11, 2010
Doesn't Ertugrul Salam hold the record for biggest defeat in the champions league?
Kozak • 10:04 • March 11, 2010
Yeah haha. BJK still did particularly well in that years CL though (for a Turkish team).
