Fenerbahçe players gathered at Samandıra's Can Bartu Training Grounds Friday noon, to wrap up preparations for this weekend's Turkcell Süper Lig away fixture with Gençlerbirliği. Assistant coaches Ayhan Tumani and Roland Koch led the players in today's practice, as Fenerbahçe manager Christoph Daum was out with the flu.
After starting the practice session with sprints, coordination and stationing drills, the Yellow Canaries continued with passing and offensive/defensive set pieces. Right back Gökhan Gönül, who has been suffering from an edeema in his right foot, was able to take part in today's training session. Final examinations on matchday will determine whether Gökhan will be available to play against Gençlerbirliği.
Friday's training session ended with a tactical practice match. The Yellow Canaries later took off to Ankara with a private jet from Sabiha Gökçen Airport at 16:00 (4 PM). The match squad is expected to arrive in the Turkish capital, later this evening.
