Diyarbakırspor Involved In Yet Another Controversial Decision

Week 25 of the Turkcell Süper Lig saw Beşiktaş make a move toward title contention.  Their win Monday night moves them ahead of Fenerbahçe in the table, while Diyarbakırspor found themselves involved in yet another scandal.  Here's a look around the league this past weekend:

The weekend got underway Friday with one match on the schedule.  Trabzonspor and hosts Gaziantepspor battled to a 1-1 draw at the end of last week.  Andre Roberto Soares da Silva scored just before the break, and it appeared that Gaziantep were on their way to three points.  Trabzonspor's Alan Carlos Gomes da Costa scored with just a minute remaining in regulation, however, and the Black Sea Storm claimed the draw and a point.

Five games were scheduled on Sunday, but only four finished, and Diyarbakırspor were again involved in controversy.  Their match Sunday against İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor was called off in the 87th minute after a group of Diyarbakırspor fans threw objects onto the field and rushed the pitch.

Diyarbakırspor officials claim they were sabotaged, however.  Diyarbakırspor Chairman Çetin Sümer told reporters "These fans are not our fans," claiming the incident was planned ahead of time by opposing fans eager to get the club into more hot water.  Diyarbakırspor could be declared the loser by default if it is determined that fans of the their club were responsible for the incident. Their match against Bursaspor in week 24 of the league was also called off, and Diyarbakırspor could be handed a loss for that match as well. That would result in automatic relegation for Diyarbakırspor due to a Turkish Football Federation rule which says if a team is declared a loser by default twice in a season, that team will be relegated.

Back to play on the pitch, Eskişehirspor is within a point of Kayserispor in the table after pulling off a 2-1 win Sunday.  Former Fenerbahçe Yellow Canary Gökhan Emreciksin tied the game up with an 82nd-minute strike for Kayseri, but Eski's Mehmet Yılmaz scored four minutes later to give Eskişehirspor the win.  They now have 42 points; good enough for seventh in the table and just behind Kayserispor.

Bursaspor stayed just a point out of first place after taking care of Manisaspor with a 2-0 win this weekend.  They are right behind Galatasaray in the table after the Lions easily slid past Ankaragücü 3-0 on Sunday.  Jo, Abdul Kader Keita, and Milan Baros all scored for Galatasaray in the easy win.

Moving up to third place in the table is Beşiktaş, passing Fenerbahçe in the standings.  They slid past Denizlispor 1-0 in the final match of the weekend on Monday.  The Black Eagles' win now puts Denizlispor in quite a predicament at the bottom of the table with just 17 points.  The Roosters are headed for relegation unless they can make a miracle turnaround in the final weeks of the season.

So if there relegated, do we get a free win from them or no?
scolakoglu • 07:54 • March 16, 2010
No, we don't.. The "free win" rule will be valid for future matches. It would even worse if it was possible since other teams lost more points than us.

Back to last year. This is the position we were in last year. We have the richest club in turkey. Best players in turkey. But the club makes some of the worst decisions ever.

Its over then 6 points is too much. We cant catch that. If we lose against galatasaray its over for champions league aswell. If that happens forget about good players. We can only transfer rejects who are in their 30s.
