After having a one-day break, Fenerbahçe players resumed preparations for their upcoming Gaziantepspor game with a double practice session on Tuesday. The Yellow Canaries pledged to never give up, as coach Christoph Daum reminded his players that their Ziraat Turkish Cup Semi-Final was also round the corner. Several players again were absent through injuries and sickness.
The Yellow Canaries were back at Samandıra's Can Bartu Training Grounds on Tuesday to resume preparations for this weekend's Turkcell Süper Lig home fixture against Gaziantepspor. Tuesday morning's practice session began at 11:00 AM with a motivational speech by Christoph Daum.
"At the moment, we're going through a rough patch. However, you shouldn't forget that your football lives are going on," said the German coach. "We have a league match on the weekend and then a Turkish Cup match coming up next week," continued the Fener boss. "We will never give up; we will work hard and believe in ourselves. We have to do this as a team, we have no other chance," commented Daum.
After conducting a practice based on sprints in the morning, Fenerbahçe players gathered up for a second training session later in the afternoon. Roland Koch warmed up the players with stretching exercises and coordination drills, before the squad completed the day's work with scrimmage matches. A number of players sat out today's practice sessions through injuries and sickness.
Injured Canaries Gökhan Ünal, Ali Bilgin and Önder Turacı practiced inside the facilities under physiotherapist supervision, while Uğur Boral resumed his post-surgery rehabilitation. Meanwhile, Emre Belözoğlu and Gökçek Vederson skipped today's practices as both players were out with the flu. Cristian Baroni who recently tore one of the muscles in the back of his right leg also did not take part in today's training sessions.
The Yellow Canaries will continue preparing for Saturday's Gaziantepspor game with another practice session at Samandıra's Can Bartu Training Grounds tomorrow afternoon at 17:00 (5 PM).
