The Yellow Canaries are commemorating the 92nd anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's visit to Fenerbahçe Sports Club. The great founder of the Republic of Turkey had visited the club headquarters on May 3rd, 1918. The date of Atatürk's visit was later dedicated as the club's foundation date, May 3rd, 1907. A ceremony will be held this afternoon to commemorate the historic event.
92 years ago today, Fenerbahçe Sports Club had a very special visitor. Our great founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk paid a visit to Fenerbahçe's headquarters in Kuşdili (the district where the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium stands today). That day, he signed the club's book of honour, passing on the following message to Fenerbahçe:
"I was informed about Fenerbahçe's outstanding activities that have been honoured with admiration all around and had made it a duty for myself to visit this club and congratulate those people who have given an outstanding service. That visit has fallen on this day. I hereby record my tribute and congratulations."
3.5.1918 - Commander of the Army, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
The date of Atatürk's historical visit was later dedicated as Fenerbahçe's foundation date, May 3rd 1907. A ceremony will be held this afternoon at Fenerbahçe's Lefter Küçükandonyadis Training Grounds in Dereağzı, Kadıköy to commemorate the 92nd anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's visit and to celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the club's foundation.
As Fenerbahçe Worldwide, we would like to pay tribute to our great founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk - also known to be a Fenerbahçe supporter - and celebrate the 103rd anniversary of our club's foundation together with Yellow Canaries fans all over the world.
