Bucaspor Joins Karabükspor in Süper Lig Next Season

The Turkcell Süper Lig is starting to fall into place for the 2010-2011 season.  Just a few weeks after Karabükspor earned their spot in the top flight for next season, the second team gained a berth on Saturday.  Bucaspor, based in the Buca section of İzmir, earned promotion Saturday by finishing second in Bank Asya 1. Lig.

Bucaspor will join Karabükspor in the Turkcell Süper Lig season after clinching a second-place spot in Bank Asya 1. Lig.  They defeated former Süper Lig side Kayseri Erciyesspor Saturday to earn the promotion.

Saturday's promotion continues an impressive run by the İzmir side.  Just a season ago, they were still in the third level of Turkish football, TFF 2. Lig.  After earning promotion to the Bank Asya 1. Lig a year ago, they now will make the big jump to the highest level, the Turkcell Süper Lig.  Their promotion also brings Turkish football's biggest spotlight back to İzmir, the country's third-largest city.

Bucaspor and Karabükspor will replace Denizlispor, and likely either Diyarbakırspor or Sivasspor.  Denizlispor have already been relegated, and Sivasspor can avoid relegation with a win tomorrow.  Diyarbakırspor will be relegated unless they win their final two matches, and Sivasspor loses both of their final two.

The third and final team to be promoted will be determined in two weeks.  Fenerbahçe Worldwide welcomes Bucaspor and Karabükspor to the Turkcell Süper Lig for the 2010-2011 season.
