Following the completion of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, football's governing body has released the latest edition of their World Ranking. While finalists Spain and the Netherlands took up the first two slots, other big movers on the list were Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Ghana and Japan. Despite not appearing in the competition, Turkey have also gone up one spot to 28th.

The latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking was released on Wednesday. There has been several changes in the rankings list, following the conclusion of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Tournament finalists Spain (1st, up 1) and the Netherlands (2nd, up 2) have took down Brazil (3rd, down 2) from the summit, as they took up the first two slots of the list.

Big movers were Uruguay (6th, up 10), Chile (10th, up 8), Paraguay (16th, up 15), Ghana (23rd, up 9) and Japan (32nd, up 13), who all impressed everyone in the World Cup finals. On the other hand, former World Cup winners Italy (11th, down 6) and France (21st, down 12) who caused great disappointment in South Africa crashed down the rankings.

Meanwhile, despite not appearing in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Turkey's Crescent Stars have climbed up one spot in the rankings to 28th. Milli Takım has continued their slow, but steady rise since February when they were stuck at 42nd. New coach Guus Hiddink's appointment and Turkey's USA Tour has seen the national team climb up the rankings list.

if we beat Belgium, Austria, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in the first half of the group and draw or luckily loose 1-0 to the Germans, i can guarantee us to get into the top 20 if not 15, but im just laughing at france LOL THEY ARE 21ST

Also if Turkey can make a good tsart against Kazakhstan by thrashing them 5-0 or 6-0 that will be great because remember this in this euros we go to the play-offs if we are 2nd however the best 2nd place team which is decided over goal difference or the most points automatically goes through, so we have to beat austria, kazakhstan and azerbaijan twice minimum followed by a home victory against belgium and hopefully a draw in brussels and a dreaw with germany in istanbul, we will definitely go though if we do that, since we will have 23 points out of 30

Kozak, think of it as other teams falling down instead of us climbing. Other teams' ratings drop, which has the effect of raising us... even if we don't play any games.

FIFA's ratings are whack! England and Portugal should not be that high still!

It's true we did rise, except we actually lost 20 points. The overall quality of football, with the exception of Germany was quite poor this World Cup. Spain were an extremely boring team to watch as well. I don't trust these rankings because many teams ahead of us are completely useless and Turkey would eat them alive (ie. Greece).
